Free accounts can't post on the forum, so the OP must have a paid version. I took a quick look at their post history and noticed a couple of other things: they've had the game since at least 2017, and have previously asked if GW2 would be available on Steam and also on various consoles and phones without stating a preference for any of those formats, so it may just be a general question rather Paid play is actually buying the expansions, which is it's own set of storylines and maps. It's all endgame stuff. As for P2W, it's a bit complicated. The elite specializations and skills you get from the expansions are more powerful or grant more utility than you'll get from pure F2P most times. Base game is F2P, decide for yourself. #1. It's more like a trial, but it's not at trail. It's more like a trial because you don't have full use of the trading post (making it far harder to get top tier gear), you get daily rewards (meaning no laurels which means hard to get things like ascended amulets), not able to talk in map chat, and very limited whispers to people not on your friends list.
The game isn't really "Free to Play", it's more "Play for Free". You can play the game that was originally released in 2012 plus the first story release before expansions, that part is free forever, with a few limitations on what you can do. But after that, you will have to get expansions and story releases to continue.

Hi everyone. I have been an avid Guild Wars 2 player, (9 years so far). I tried to move to FF14, but kept coming back to GW2. I hear a lot of positive feedback from this game, ever since it was released in 2019. Im pretty much accostumed to GW2 Combat mechanics, PvE play style, groups, squards, etc.. I´ve seen a lot of videos of Lost Ark in YouTube, but there´s no good explanation about The Chalice of Glory is a one-time-use item that will add PvP Rank Points to your account. Once used, the chalice will be destroyed and the bonus will be reflected on your account. The Tome of Influence is a one-time use item that adds 5 Guild Commendations to your account. These can be spent at guild vendors.
Whether that's actually ever what the F2P or B2P model has been in reality, that's what it was sold as way back when it was getting going in games. It was never sold as "here is a way for people to money shame other players about how much they are spending on a game and look down on them at the slightest hint that they might not be putting the
