Theload range will also be much lower. 225/45R17 is 6.62% smaller then 225/55R17. If you want to use 45 series without changing the rims you will need 255/45R17 and this is still 2.65% smaller and for 45 series this should be the widest tyre they have. The correct size is to use 18" and 245/45R18 which is almost same as your 225/55R17.
